MONSTRA is all about animation cinema, but it’s also about workshops and training!
Although most of the monstrous activities are focused on the dates of the festival and the months leading up to it, such as February and March, MONSTRA remains active throughout the rest of the year.
We organise and promote film screenings all over the country through A MONSTRA À SOLTA programme and, in addition to film screenings, MONSTRA also promotes and organises animation cinema workshops. The aim is simple: to increase the film literacy of the youngest, and to arouse curiosity about animation and its production.
This month we have two workshops confirmed, in Lisbon and Braga, with the participation of members of the MONSTRA team:
– from 30 June to 4 July we’ll be at CAM – the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation’s Modern Art Centre, for an animation workshop for children aged between 5 and 12, with the aim of making one or more films inspired by the works of the artists exhibited at CAM.
– On 11 July we’ll be at the gnration in Braga for an animation workshop where the aim will be to make a music video using traditional and digital animation techniques, exploring how images can transform music, giving it new layers of meaning.
