Set in a distant future, a female android designed to assassinate a scientist begins to develop self-awareness and desire. As her identity fractures, the film becomes a dark meditation on the body, artificiality, love, and autonomy. The meticulous animation and decaying environments create an atmosphere of mechanical melancholy and existential horror.
