Check out Cinemateca Portuguesa’s programming during MONSTRA, which is highlighting Estonian animation. From March 12th to 16th, at 6.30pm, we will always have something new to show you.

On the 12th, there will be a screening of The Kings of the Time: a documentary with animation elements by Mait Laas, about Elbert Tuganov e Heino Pars – two animators and artists who, despite the times of change, became masters of their craft.

On the 13th and 14th, respectively, the Estonia Special Anniversaries films will be screened in two parts. These are short films which are considered classics and that showcase how the animation of this country reinvented itself throughout the years.

On the 15th, Priit Tender will be presenting a retrospective of films selected by himself. His work features surrealist and obscene images, and it has won awards and has been nominated for the most important international animated short film festivals.

Friday the 16th, it’s Priit Pärn’s time to present the 2nd half of his retrospective, featuring the folowing films: Divers in the Rain (2010), Life Without Gabriela Ferri (2008) and Pilots on the Way Home (2014).

Still during the festival, and until March 28th, there is also the Estonian Film Exhibition—Film Images, in which our attention focuses on images from a variety of Estonian animated films.
