Workshop Andrea Martignoni |  Creative Approach for a Short Soundtrack for a still Non-existing Film

In this workshop we’ll explore and record the sounds around us with a single goal in mind: creating a soundtrack free from the hassle and limitations of a pre-existing script.

Andrea Martignoni was born in Bologna, in 1961, and graduated both in musicology with a thesis on soundtrack in animation, and in geography with a thesis on soundscape. He is a performer, sound designer and animation historian. He works closely with several international festivals by giving lectures, classes and workshops on animation and soundtrack. He taught animation history at the Academy of Fine Arts, Palermo, and at the IULM in Milan.

Workshop Adam Slawomir Michalowski | Armor Construction

This workshop is all about how to build armor for puppets, while showing attendees how to give their armor a professional look.

Born in Skierniewice, Adam Michalowski is a mechanical engineer with a great passion for painting, which is reflected in his work: a fairytale world expressed by acrylic and immortalized on wood. Many of the mechanical skeletons created by Michalowski have been used in animations in Japan, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Slovenia and Poland.

Workshop Jonathan Hodgson |  Terra Firma

In this workshop you’ll put your hands to work! There will be a large roll of paper in the room and its purpose is to create an animated charcoal drawing, similar to the technology used by William Kentridge. Each participant will work on a different part of the drawing. The goal is to create a big animated landscape.

Jonathan Hodgson is an independent animator based in London. He studied animation at Liverpool Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art. Since graduating in 1985, he has directed countless animated projects including short films, music videos and advertising campaigns. He has lectured extensively in the UK and Europe, and since 2008 has run the Animation Course at Middlesex University.

Workshop Juan Pablo Zaramella | How to Think and Make a Movie in Pixilation

This workshop will consist in a theoretical, although a big part of it will also be practical, introduction to pixilation. In the first part, Juan Pablo Zaramella will do a brief presentation of his work and, in the remaining 3 hours, practical exercises will be done with the participants. The main goal of this workshop is to teach you narrative techniques, in other words, how to think and make a film in pixilation.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Juan Pablo Zaramella has been awarded prizes at festivals all around the world. In 2010, the Annecy International Animation Festival presented a special program with a selection of his films. Luminarisis the most awarded short-film in history, with 326 international awards and was in the Oscar’s Shortlist for Best Animated Short.

Workshop Rafael Antunes | Virtual Reality/ 360o VR Guerrilha Filmmaking – SOLD OUT

The 360o VR guerrilla filmmaking workshop consists of an introduction to the basic concepts for the production of immersive contents in 360o VR. The goal of this workshop is to teach you the technical and theoretical aspects of the different tools and software used in this technology using the new Samsung Gear 360 cameras. At the end of the workshop the 360o VR videos produced by the participants that collaborated in the elaboration of the narrative, post-production of 360o VR images will be screened.

Attending the PhD in Communication Sciences at Lusófona University, recently participated in the VR: Immersive video storytelling course at UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and the Course in “Elements of Journalism” at Lusófona University. Concluded the MA in Film Studies in the same University, with a Transmedia project “Blue Pencil”. Worked for 17 years in the Media Group Impresa as Product Manager and is responsible for the implementation of 360 VR.
